THE ULTIMATE CYBORG NINJA

Gamers are a tough audience to please, and hardcore fans of the Metal Gear franchise are certainly no exception. Reintroducing Raiden as the main character and establishing him as the ultimate cyborg ninja badass were the main objectives of this campaign. Fans were initially not too fond of Raiden, but once the trailer and game demo were released, they quickly embraced him as one of their own and were chomping at the bit to get their hands on Konami’s lightning-fast game.

RAIDEN'S REVENGE

Since Metal Gear Rising was the first title to be released after the Metal Gear Solid franchise, it was important to engage existing fans, in addition to introducing a new story.
 
Before the game was released, a teaser campaign leading to E3 would help fans understand the motivation behind Raiden´s revenge.
 
Severed cyborg arms were sent to key gaming bloggers, fake presidential campaign posters plastered universities, and a series of online videos built up buzz for a trailer that was voted "Best Action Game" at E3 and garnered over 2 million views with thousands of shares.
